Hi Stacey,

It’s nice to hear from you! I just got back from a trip to the Dominican Republic. I needed a little getaway to escape the darker, gloomier days of fall.

I am doing very well! I recently managed to completely come off the antidepressant I was taking with the help and guidance of my doctor. I hardly had any issues and have continued to feel great since. I did it slowly and over time, just like you said I should.

I think about everything that we worked on daily. I often reflect on and am so grateful for how my life has changed for the better in the last 2-3 years. The work I did on myself with your help was the best investment I could have ever made. I now feel more aligned with my authentic self in my personal life, career, family and beyond. I don’t feel like a square peg trying to fit into a round hole. I didn’t think it was possible to feel this aligned before working with you. And I’m eternally grateful to you for making me realize that.

As you always reminded me, life is not about perfection and outer image. I still have many off days and times when I push myself too hard, make a choice that probably isn’t the healthiest for me, etc. But, with time and practice, saying no to myself (and others) has become easier and less uncomfortable. I know how to recognize those old patterns when they resurface and know how to change course and make healthier choices. It truly is a lifelong journey. I’m no longer afraid of my emotions or my sensitive side. I embrace it!

The combination of good self-help information and working with an experienced anxiety disorder therapist, coach, or counselor is the most effective way to address anxiety and its many symptoms. Until the core causes of anxiety are addressed – which we call the underlying factors of anxiety – a struggle with anxiety unwellness can return again and again. Dealing with the underlying factors of anxiety is the best way to address problematic anxiety.
