Do Your Therapists Take Health Insurance
Do your recommended anxiety disorder therapists take health insurance?
Regarding health insurance, some of our therapists can be covered by certain health plans. Because each insurance provider is unique in what they will cover, you will need to ask your health plan provider a few questions:
- Will they cover Master Degree therapists, including psychotherapists (some health insurance plans only cover chartered psychologists, psychiatrists, or social workers but not Master Degree Therapists or psychotherapists)?
- Will they cover therapy done at a distance, often referred to as “teletherapy” or “distance counseling,” such as over the phone or via the Internet?
All our recommended therapists are members of a governing body, which is something many health plan providers look for. To be sure of what your plan covers, you’ll need to ask your health insurance provider for more information about mental health coverage, what their requirements are, and if you qualify if you work with one of our recommended therapists.
If your health plan provider covers your therapy sessions with one of our recommended therapists, also ask what they will need from us. We are a Canadian company and do not have Procedure Codes, Diagnosis Codes, NPI numbers, or Tax ID numbers.
However, other American clients have asked their general practitioners for the Procedure and Diagnosis codes. When doctors hear their patients are seeking professional services for their anxiety disorder, they generally provide the codes to their patients.
Additionally, we ask clients to get permission from their doctor for us to include their name and clinic address on the receipts with a note that the codes were provided to us by them via the client. We have found that doctors don’t mind providing the information, and most American insurance providers accept our receipts with this information included.
Also, most health insurance providers only cover a certain number of sessions. You may want to ask how many sessions they'll cover, as well.
You can email us for more information if you have any additional or specific questions about therapy and health insurance coverage.
