Is sexual activity beneficial or harmful to recovery from hyperstimulation?

Sexual activity in moderation can help with recovery from hyperstimulation because it can reduce stress through the physical activity of making love, the feel-good hormones released during love-making, and the joy of being intimate with a loved one. All three are proven stress-reducers.

So, regular sexual activity with a loved one can be an important part of your recovery journey.

However, too-frequent sexual activity can overly stress the body, which can stall and even reverse recovery from hyperstimulation.

That’s because sexual activity stresses the body. And too much stress can aggravate hyperstimulation and send recovery backward.

Consequently, it's important to find the right balance between a beneficial amount and too much.

And since each person's stress threshold during sexual activity is unique, you'll have to determine how much sexual activity is beneficial versus how much sends your recovery backward.

You might also have to wait a few days after your sexual activity to experience the full effects of stress since there is often a lag between the stress-inducing event and how it affects the body.

So, while moderate sexual activity can help with recovery from hyperstimulation, too much can send your recovery backward. Again, you’ll have to determine the right amount of sexual activity for you.
