I’ve been working on my recovery for just about one year. I’ve made significant progress, and I’m almost symptom-free. Recently, one of my main symptoms (psoriasis) flared up. Since I’ve been pushing myself to see how well I can do, which is somewhat stressful, I'm wondering if the increase in stress could cause my psoriasis to flare up, and if so, is that common?

It's great to hear you are doing so well! Congratulations on your hard work!

Since stress is one of the most common triggers for psoriasis, it is common to have a flare-up as you push yourself when returning to normal living.

As you gain more confidence and the stress of returning to everyday life subsides, you should notice your flare-ups subside.

In the meantime, you can treat your flare-ups as a temporary inconvenience as you complete your recovery and return to a normal, anxiety disorder-free life.

Again, congratulations on your recovery work! Well done!

Until the core causes of anxiety are addressed – which we call the underlying factors of anxiety – a struggle with anxiety unwellness can return again and again. Dealing with the underlying factors of anxiety is the best way to address problematic anxiety.
